This summer, athletic jerseys have emerged as a prominent fashion trend. People worldwide are widely embracing them amid the FIFA World Cup, currently being held in North America. Former US First Lady Michelle Obama has also joined this trend.

In late June, Michelle Obama appeared in Chicago sporting an athletic jersey ensemble. The former First Lady visited the city for the inauguration of the Barack Obama Presidential Center. At the center’s media studio, she attended a jam session featuring singer Tems, the Girls Opportunity Alliance initiative, and the organization After School Matters. For this occasion, Michelle Obama opted for a sporty yet elegant look.
Stylist Meredith Cope was responsible for Michelle’s attire. She selected a customized white Fear of God crewneck t-shirt for Obama. Prominently displayed on the chest was the number 44, rendered in a font reminiscent of athletic team wear. This piece is a variation from the brand’s Spring-Summer 2026 collection’s final look. The t-shirt was specially adapted for Michelle Obama to reference the 44th US President. She complemented it with white trousers and heeled sandals.

Michelle Obama becomes another celebrity to embrace the athletic jersey trend this summer. Earlier, Zendaya, who was traveling globally for the promotional tour of the film “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” was seen in a long-sleeved Coach jersey. Its design drew inspiration from football kits, featuring subtly padded shoulders. Zendaya paired the jersey with a preppy plaid skirt.
