Multicoloured Tights and Transparent Nylon
Marc Jacobs gathered a fashionable crowd at the New York Public Library to share his vision for spring fashion in 2027.
Jacobs traditionally works with color-blocking, and this collection was no exception. The designer presented a sophisticated, slightly “dusty” palette—purple, mustard, diluted blue, and other nuanced shades, accentuating them with vibrant, multicoloured tights. Straight and A-line silhouettes, a focus on mini and midi lengths, and layered transparency, which appears to be one of the key trends for the upcoming season, were consistently featured throughout the show. Particular attention was drawn to sheer long-sleeved tops and “heavy,” baroque-style jackets.
The Hottest Trend of 2026 – Transparency
As always, Jacobs doesn’t hide his sources of inspiration. This time, references to Junya Watanabe’s spring 1996 collection are easily recognizable: sheer nylon shirts, trousers, trompe-l’œil effect slip dresses, and other layered pieces in pink, blue, and purple hues. Contrasting opaque tights and bodysuits evoke Bob Fosse’s musical “All That Jazz.” Simultaneously, the colour palette and silhouettes echo quotes from Prada’s Spring 2007 collection, Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2009 collection, Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring 1993 collection, and Chanel’s Spring 1993 collection.
To support Marc, his friend and loyal fan Anna Wintour attended, along with Charlotte Groeneveld, Jessica Wang, Tina Leung, and other celebrities.
